Please Pray For My Kuya Bong's Recovery
I have some virus issues on my computer now, it started when my son plug his USB flash disk last weekend. It seems that he got the virus from school or from his classmate. Its a Worm 32.trojan.abj virus. I’ll be posting the details to my other blog later. Aside from being busy on Christmas preparations, migraine on getting rid of trojan, my family and I are worried with my cousin’s health condition.
Kuya Bong is only 42 years, single. He is confined now at San Juan De Dios Hospital, acute stroke ICU department. I can’t remember the medical term of “malapot ang dugo”, he have this rare condition and taking medicine for almost 8 years. Last Monday morning he collapsed after steam bath. Dehydrated? Maybe… and he had few nights of insomnia before Monday. Good thing that the moment when he collapsed, he was not alone at home. Its good that my other cousins know CPR, they said Kuya Bong had no pulse and cold. My Auntie was hysterical already seeing his son on that condition. Thank God that he breath again and they rushed him in San Juan de Dios Hospital.
Last night, together with my sisters and my two grown up sons, we visited him. We took turns on going in the ICU (one visitor only is allowed at a time), my sister cried when he saw our Kuya Bong. He’s not using respirator but many tubes attached to his body and he have NGT (nasogastric tube insertion) on his nose. While I was waiting for my turn, the scent of hospital bed and medicine brought back the memories when my tatay passed away. I told to myself, I have to be casual when my kuya sees me. He was awake, lose weight and seems fine except for the medical thingy. My son who was the last one entered the ICU told us that Kuya Bong was asking where my sister (the one who cried) and he didn’t saw and talked to her. And we went back to the visitor’s lounge.
When we told our cousin about this, she told us Kuya Bong sometimes have memory lapses. Kuya Bong underwent MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) last Tuesday at St. Luke’s Medical Center. According to my cousin, the result wasn’t ok, he had bleeding and clot on his brain. The doctor said, we might lose him on his next attack.
What worries me now is that I know he was battling depression after breaking up with his live-in partner of 6 years last five months ago. I understand depression, sometimes it took years to battle it. How I wish I had the chance to talk to him regarding his lost love and his depression before. Pamilya Banal (Cruz family) are praying for his speedy recovery. We love you, Kuya Bong.
UPDATE 12/21/08: Kuya was transferred to a regular room now. Thank you so much to all your prayers, I’m hoping and still praying for his recovery.

Last American Virgin From eBay
I’m very happy that I finally received my DVD copy of The Last American Virgin. this afternoon. To others, this movie maybe just an ordinary movie but for me, it brings back some of the teenage memories. Sometimes, its healthy reminiscin’ the old days. Did you know that I searched for this movie to almost all the VCD/DVD outlets in almost all the mall I know? And now that I have my paypal money, this is the first thing I’ve purchased from eBay. Take note that I received my DVD a week earlier than expected.
It was the first rated R, 80′s movie (betamax copy… LOL) that my father recommended me and my teenage friends to watch. I was 13 years old then, in high school. Actually, I am hitting two birds with one stone on purchasing this DVD. First, I promised this movie to my teenagers four years ago. Although, it was overdue, I don’t want to broke my promise. Second, its a memorabilia for me. I’m planning to make a couple of copies to give to my friends as Christmas gift. Barat ba? LOL! Well, its the thought that counts and we have a deal that whoever gets the copy first will give copies to others. Also that there’s no available copy in the Philippines. I’m sure, my bestfriend will truly love it, I already imagined her face when she’ll receive her copy.
This weekend, I’m inviting a couple of my son’s friends at home… prepare some food for them for a little film showing. I’m really excited. The movie have some naughty and sexy scenes but the most important things are the lessons they will learn on the responsibility of being a teenager. I recommended this movie before to some parents (of teenagers) asking for movie I know suited for teenage life.
The movie run time is 1 hour, 33 minutes, released in 1982. The music background includes Just Once, Open Arms, Oh No, The Cars, U2, The Police and many more. Few months ago, I’ve compiled the soundtrack music of this movie and gave it to my bestfriend. She said, when she feels down she just play the CD to lighten up her mood.

CEU High School Paranaque Mini Reunion
The picture speaks a thousand faces, bring out the memories of high school life… my teenage life. Meeting some of my schoolmates and classmates is almost impossible since our school was “erased” in Paranaque City two years after I graduated from high school.

What school? Centro Escolar University (Paranaque), it didn’t exist now, the place where it was located before is now townhouses. I believe CEU had a lease contract to that location and it expired. Its too sad at that time that even teachers were wearing black shirts as protest. There was nothing we can do, we are only students. And we are really sad… imagine, we didn’t have school to visit now and perhaps see what happened to our teachers. Our batch is planning for a Christmas party after Christmas, if I get lucky enough with my schedule I’ll try to attend the gathering… see the old faces that I used to know during high school days. See you soon to our grand reunion next year!

Christmas Holidays In The Philippines
Its in our culture that Filipinos celebrate Christmas season the longest. Why? Because we are family oriented, we have close family ties not with our immediate family but to all our relatives. December is usually hectic on attending Christmas parties with relatives, friends, office mates, classmates, organizations… you name it. Some even travel from provinces to Manila or the other way around just to be with their loved ones.
This year 2008 will be a long Christmas vacation. Good news, isn’t it? I usually looked like a zombie with dark circles under my eyes during December. Its annoying but seeing the people I love is giving me the happiness. Who cares about the eye bags?
December 1 -November 30 is a Sunday, Bonifacio Day. December 1 is the nearest Monday. Although it is not considered a Christmas holiday, the celebration fall on December. Better use the day wisely on Christmas shopping.
December 25 – Christmas Day 2008 is Thursday. Its common that the day before Christmas is half day to most of the businesses. Some employees will be needing more time to travel in the province to go home in time for Noche Buena.
December 26 – (Friday) It was declared special non-working holiday.
December 29 – (Monday) Also declared special non-working holiday.
December 30 – (Tuesday) Rizal Day
December 31 – (Wednesday) Happy New Year!
My kids Christmas party is on December 19 (Friday) and will be back for school on January 5. I doubt if I have plenty of time to catch some sleep after Christmas. Maligayang Pasko!
