Do You Discriminate Entrecard Adverts?
I wanted to post this long time ago, actually since I’ve joined Entrecard. The first thing I’ve noticed when I purchased adverts, some bloggers are declining or rejecting my ad for the reason of “Not Relevant”.
My blog contents are mostly regarding my country and everything I want to share in the blogosphere. It’s ok to reject an ad you don’t want to be seen on your site, its your choice and its your site, no contest to that. But if you’re a pinoy (slang word of filipino) blogger and maintaining a tech blog or music blog, would you discriminate a personal blog?
Some pinoy entrecard users I know sometimes told me that they’ve been rejected by another filipino blog. They have my sympathy and I’ve learned a lesson from it. I’ve been waiting for a certain site to advertise, I have no luck. But seeing his advert approval stat… with 0% adverts requests declined and 0% approved requests declined. Wow! I am really impressed. No doubt why he had so many visitors on his site.
I have an advert approval stat of 1.79% adverts requests declined and 1.82% approved requests declined. I’m not proud of it. I’ve made some mistakes on my first day at Entrecard. hehehe… Oh well. I shouldn’t have rejected adverts at that time just like almost everybody was doing that time. I guess, there are many members now conscious with their stat, they seldom reject adverts now except for the new members.

I’ve rejected a couple of adverts because they’re not relevant. My blog is a personal blog and if it’s a tech or political site that wants to be advertised, I may reject if it I don’t feel my site and their site have anything in common. But most personal blogs, or most blogs, I will accept.

i have been rejected a couple of times, it hurts a little because its from a fellow pinoy, but thats nothing personal. like you said its their right and we have to respect that. hehe me, i never reject coz i know how it feels hehehe

All Entrecard ad requests on my blog are approved on a first come first served basis. Pero may mga nirereject din ako kapag medyo soft-porn ang dating nung ad nila.

Joyce, my blog did received many rejection. hehehe… I never reject adverts. takot sa karma. hehehe…
Marhgil, It is really you! I’m flattered that you’re here. Me too, as long as its not porn, no rejection at all.

well..as for my case haven’t rejected any since i know the hidden benefits of ec’s..guess others as well..
but it would all still depend how u r going to use it in the long run for ur advantage..
ive heard from others that they don’t want other industry to be advertising in their blogs coz they don’t want weird traffic coming in to their blogs.. other seasoned EC’s users as well don’t just simply advertise on non-related sites/blogs for them not to get weird traffic..
but.. the essence placing updated contents or even creating pillar contents is to get traffic..
now ..is it not ironic?? how weird… well if your looking for targeted traffic is great but.. i doubt if you can create really good articles to get those traffic.. all i can see is most of us spends a lot of time on others blog instead of our blog and im not an exemption to that..
for traffic, some programs counts page views..no matter where this traffic originates..
now i would suggest that if your content and ur ads are perfectly aligned and ur also running page view trigged programs..better not reject advertisements.. coz ull end up being soooo..
anyway, great post..in fact i also have a couple of EC’ user tips on my blog..

i’ve been rejected by “big time” bloggers and pinoy bloggers too. But I never reject blogs who want to advertise on my blog. So what if they bring weird traffic, might get lucky sometimes di ba? targeted traffic is useless if you’ve really got nothing good in your site anyway. Just my POW. =)

Rodel,
One thing I’ve also noticed, bloggers who joined entrecard, se;dom posting new entries on their site. Like what you’ve said, they’re more busy now on crd dropping. ahehe

krrey_boo17,
Don’t worry you’re not alone with that experience. But better try to adverstise than doing nothing at all. right?
Thanks for commenting on this post. Mabuhay!

The best thing to avoid rejection from anyone is to make him feel that both of you have something in common. But I am glad you do not take these rejections personally. Instead, you are proactive to your actions and this is a good sign of being a true Pinoy. Sports lang, walang personalan.
It also hurts me to dissaprove someone Pinoy or not, but if I feel he deserves it then I do it. But if I think I was wrong, I try to be humble to say I’m sorry.
Mabuhay ka, kabayan!

i knew the feeling. i was rejected several times. it’s their right. i felt double the rejection when i was approved the first time, but the second time i was rejected, on the very same site. “not relevant” was the reason. but when i checked, we were alike, but we’re not different. since that site is very “unique”, if i ghot rejected for being irrelevant, so is everybody’s.
now what i can only do is not accept them when they try to advertise on mine again.

Do not be discouraged visit my blogsite you are very welcome. I am flip’ just like you. Pinoy yon’ here in Canada

i can understand if my advert request was rejected because my site is not relevant… but for my entrecard, i too don’t discriminate and approve everyone who wants to advertise on my site… i actually feel honored.
but aside from being not relevant, have you ever encountered another reason why you were rejected? in my case, i once had a disapproved request simply because the person wanted me to subscribe to the website’s feed first… i just laughed and never went back to that blog.

@rey, ur right.. in fact..100% if ur blog tells something about how to earn money most likely they’ll jump in..
this is also the reason why i created my hate EC’s tips hihi..
and the thing is… this weird traffic are the ones brining in the money.. they are the uniques who frequently clicks on our ads..
u see how stupid others for not realizing this one??..
t
this is also the reason why i preferred uniques and weird traffic to frequent on my blogs for me to get the clickthroughs and action’s..

@guardian angel, sometimes, its hard to show the other blog that we have something in common, he would judged you by simply reading your recent entry. hehehe, wlang personalan po talaga, socializing lang. hehe…
@buraot, not accepting them in return is not my thing. I’ll be more than willing to accept them to make them realized in the long run that their statictics of rejecting some blog will not help them in the long run. hehehe. Batuhin ba ng tinapay?!
@rod’aflip, thank you. I’m not discouraged, there are a lot of sites to advertise. hehe
@fitz, I’ve also experienced the rejection of “not accepting adverts at this time” or “too many requests”. I did never came back but drop a card if he happen to drop on my site. I would have do the same thing you did, something odd to that blog or maybe too desperate to have more subscribers. hehe
@rodel, nice analysis you have. But adsense doesn’t work on my site. I’m working with my traffic while frequently updating my entries.

it seem that I already made my mistakes in entrecard dropping. may sinunod kc kong advice and i thought it would work. obviously, its not working now.

@glitch..
well these weirdo’s are the naives.. :).. they are not aware of the baits being set by Geek blogger’s..
if you can create a powerful content blended with a very catchy ads.. tumpak!
money is in..
this is also one reason why i prefer bidvertiser coz its new so most new comers and most of their ads are really worth the clicks..
nway, ill be releasing my related content and mention u ..for stirring the thoughts here..

@Mhel,
i, sis. Trial and error po ako lagi. If I’ve learned something, I’ll shared it together with my mistakes. I’ll be posting more entrecard observations. hehe..
@Rodel,
Wow! How nice of you. Sharing some tips to pinoy would make them aware and I think, that would lessen the discrimination from other sites.
Looking forward to “money making” positioning post on your site. I need help on that. Thank you.

at least, sa inyo, “not relevant” lang yung reason. I’ve encountered one, nireject yung ad ko at ang reason, “I think, my visitors will not be interested in your site.” And his site is all about Adsense. Medyo nag-init talaga ako dun, gusto ko sana iblog, pero narealize ko, he’s link baiting. He wants to piss me off para iblog ko sya para sumikat sya. Hehehe. So, anong nangyari? Hayan, dito ko lang sya naikwento, and I’m not linking to him, ever.

@Marhgil,
ahehe, korak ka po sa intention nya kung bakit nya ginawa yun. ahehe
