Punk rock… new wave… what era can you think of? For those who doesn’t know, it’s the 80’s. It just so happen that during those years, I was so active exploring new things in life and updated to the latest bands I can hear of. Last week, I was thinking of local bands during that era, all I can remember was The Dawn. All I can think of were all foreign such as Depeche Mode, Simple Plan, The Cure, REM, When In Rome etc. I didn’t know that at one point in my life, I didn’t support local pinoy band as I do now.
I met Aji Adriano of The Wuds last week. I’m shy that I didn’t know their band considering that they’ve started their band in early 80’s. Aji told me that the band started 25 years ago. I told him, if they’ve got married that time, they could have an adult son/daughter by now. I’m impressed with how they made their group together until now compared to other local bands. The disband of bands we know now do happened when one of the members think of a better career without the other members. Actually, I don’t have respect and doesn’t support those kinds of people. Some of them didn’t go a long way on their career. Am I right or am I right?
The Wuds members are:
Bobby Balingit (lead guitar/vocals), is a unconventional guitar instructor and song-writing workshop facilitator. He is also a painter and divides his time in-between teaching.
Alfred Guevarra (bass/vocals), is a noted tattoo artist and the President of the Philippine Tattoo Arts Guild (PHILTAG), Manila. He sometimes plays the rhythm guitar.
Aji Adriano (drums) is a guitar and drum instuctor. He is also my son’s drum instuctor this summer.
