Lobo, Almost Blood And Chocolate… Coincidence?
I was resting and watched Star movies, just in time because the movie have had started. It was titled “Blood and Chocolate”, its about clan of werewolves in Romania. The movie was released in US in January 26, 2007 and wasn’t shown here. You could check on the plot here but I suggest to buy a DVD/VCD in the nearest mall. It may be on sale because it wasn’t released here or check the schedules of Star Movies.
My sister came and watched with me, I have nothing against the movie but my sister also noticed the similarity of the movie to ABS CBN’s fantaserye Lobo (filipino word of wolf) starring Angel Locsin and Piolo Pascual except Lobo in my opinion is a lot better with many twists. We did watched the teleserye every night and amazed with the “unique story”. What scene in Lobo you remember the most? hmmn… when Angel Locsin transforming from human to werewolf, she will jump (or leap?) as she runs, she will glow and when she reach the ground she was already a werewolf… when the wolves changes (lighten) their eye color when they smell and/or see blood… the werewolves didn’t allow humans on their race.
Although there are no bad (black) and good (white) wolves in the movie, “Takda“, played by Angel Locsin is a white wolf just like Vivian in the movie. There are many scenes especially the transformation of human to wolves are similar.
Is it a coincidence?

Actually LOBO is based in Korean drama series called “Nine Tailed Fox” or Forbidden Love starring Kim Tae Hee and Jo Hyun Jae. The series was aired on July 2004. I guess, based din itong Blood and Chocolate sa Korean drama na ito, just like don sa The Lake House which is based sa Il Mare, another Korean movie din.

my friend says Lobo’s plot is a lot more similar with a certain Koreanovela (or is it Chinovela? not sure. shown a few years back). two kids had a bond when they were little (is there a necklace involved?) and were not able to see each other for many years. the boy grew up to be a cop (just like Piolo’s character) and the girl apparently has a secret – she’s a wolf or something like that. they fell in love eventually.
i wasn’t able to watch Lobo but based on what she told me and the commercials i’ve seen for the local series i can’t help but think if Lobo is really original. perhaps they got the idea from the movie you watched and that Koreanovela my friend told me about.

Hi, the plot could be more similar to the koreanovela than the movie “Blood and Chocolates” but I’m sure the cinematography is a lot similar to the movie. Now, I don’t think Lobo is original.
I still love Lobo, no matter what.
It’s one of the best series I ever watch
