Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao is nominated to AskMen.com as one of the Top 49 Most Influential Men In The World for 2008. It is sort of a survey of how the nominees influenced us on how we behave, how we buy and how we think.
No doubt that the Filipino blogosphere will vote for Manny Pacquiao since he is the only Filipino included in the list. Do I have to mention that Manny Pacquiao is popular all around the globe for being the first Asian who won four titles in different weight division. Its not too late to cast your vote here. There are 122 nominees in all in different categories: Actor (23), Musician (20), Businessmen and Politicians (19), Athletes (26), Cultural Icons (20) and Designers (14). The final list of Top 49 Most Influential Men In The World will be revealed on October 21, 2008.
Did you know that everytime Manny Pacquiao has boxing match… there’s no traffic? there’s no anti-GMA demonstration? automatic ceasefire in Mindanao? low crime rate? That’s how Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao influenced us here in the Philippines.
FYI: David Beckham took the top place in 2007 while George Clooney in 2006.

Issai Villafuerte, Philippines' Ice Princess
Philippines is a tropical country, would you believe we have a 13 year old Filipina ice skater who bagged 20 medals, 11 gold, six silver and three bronze medals after competing for three months in the USFSA recently? She is no other than Anna Isabel Villafuerte, also known as Issai from Bicol, Philippines and the granddaughter of Camarines Sur Congressman Luis Villafuerte.
Last year, Issai became the first Philippine-born ice skater to qualify to compete in the United States Figure Skating Association (USFSA) after undergoing a series of rigorous tests conducted by the USFSA. This year was her first year of competitive events.
Philippines already have a representative in the next Winter Olympics slated for Vancouver, Canada in 2010. Issai, now tagged as the Ice Princess started skating at the age of 8 at SM Mega Mall. I wonder if she also skates at SM Mall of Asia. I want to see her in action.

Another Guinness World Record For Paeng Nepomuceno
Filipino bowler Paeng Nepomuceno received his 3rd certificate from Guiness Book of World Records for having won the most number of bowling tournaments worldwide. His first is Guinness Record Hall of Fame for winning four World Cups in three different decades (70’s, 80’s and 90’s). His second Guinness distinction was in recognition of his feat as the youngest to win a world title at age 19. Information taken here.
It was in the news tonight, multi awarded Paeng Nepomuceno was suprised upon receiving the certificate. My youngest son and I just had finished studying Sibika (Social Studies) about the world class Filipino personalities such as Manny Pacquiao, Lisa Macuja, Lea Salonga, Cecil Licad etc. I was explaining to my son their success on their respective fields. I did told him about Paeng Nepomuceno but I didn’t know that he is Guiness Book of Records awardee, not once but thrice. Wow! I’m really proud to be a Pinoy.
