I’m back! This was my fifth time in La Union and first time to explore other tourist destination in La Union. Itinerary was changed, I’m sad that San Juan, La Union was omitted because the wave wasn’t that good for surfing. People there told us that the best month of going to San Juan is November. So, we will try to go back in November.

Beach in Bauang, La Union is still relaxing, we enjoyed swimming from 7 – 10am and late in the afternoon. We explore some parts of San Fernando, La Union and Baguio when the sun is too hot. Students there were not having yet school vacation yet so beaches were not crowded. hmnn… better timing for a good sunbathing. I experienced Holy Week here (my first time), place is too busy and travel time from Manila is around 6-8 hours. Thats the reason why we never came back during Lenten season.
For the record, this is consider as a budget tour. We rode a Partas Bus to San Fernando, La Union from Pasay, Edsa is Php 371 per head, its 5 hours trip. Going to San Fernando is minimum fare of Php 7 on jeepney. Tricycles is everywhere if you want to go from one place to another especially in San Fernando, rates depends on your destination. The beach where we stayed is free because my friend is a co-owner, we stayed in a nipa hut fronting the beach. We bought food from carinderia (canteen for passers by) along the highway, supplies from San Fernando groceries. Other known beaches nearby were Bali Hai, Long Beach… its easier to walk along the seashore if you want to go beach hopping than coming from the highway entrance. Believe me, its a long walk if you come from the highway.
See the picture, almost like Bataan beaches, gray fine sand and almost warm water. The best place to stop over to take a rest or sleep before going to a long trip to Ilocos or Baguio. We usually spent the last day in Baguio City before going home, we took the bus from there.

I’m just waiting for my friends’ call so that we can start traveling from Manila to La Union. I planned our itinerary, our first stop will be Bauang, then San Fernando, then Baguio. I always dream of seeing San Juan, La Union. Surfing, snorkeling, waves and seeing surfers in action! I hope the new shift load of my friend will be effective next week so we can stay longer.
Its been two years since my last vacation in La Union and I’m really excited. My bags are packed and ready to go…
Pictures of my nature trip will be posted soon.

Contract issues between Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao and Solar Sports with GMA 7 is settled. This week, a video of Manny Pacquiao was aired in TV Patrol announcing that ABS CBN will be his new media partner in future boxing bouts including Pacquiao vs Hatton Match in May 2. He reportedly signed a contract to ABS CBN so he can return to Kapamilya Network. SNN (Showbiz News Ngayon) host Kris Aquino even said on air that Jinky Pacquiao, wife of Manny told her that Manny had long been want to come back to Kapamilya Network.
Solar Sports Entertainment earlier announced that Pacquiao had returned to its fold after a meeting between Wilson Tieng and chief operating officer Peter Chanliong and Pacquiao in Los Angeles. Meanwhile, GMA 7 and Solar Sports Entertainment had renewed their contract last week.
“Solar Entertainment Corporation, Manny Pacquiao and MP Promotions, are happy to announce that in the spirit of utmost good faith, the parties have favorably resolved their unfortunate misunderstanding. Manny and MP Promotions have agreed to honor the television rights agreement and fully comply with the terms and conditions therein,” Solar Sports Entertainment said.
“Taos puso akong humihingi ng paumanhin kung kayo man ay naguluhan kung saan ipapalabas ang aking darating na laban kay Ricky Hatton. Ito po ay resulta lang ng hindi pagkaka-intindihan sa pagitan ng Solar Entertainment Corporation at MP Promotions,” Manny Pacquiao said.
“Manny Pacquiao approached ABS-CBN to be his media partner in airing his next fights. We thank him for trusting us. He signed a contract with us, but we will not stand in the way if he decides to change his mind. We respect it, wish him good luck and we wait to hear from him,” ABS CBN said.
Pacquiao’s fight with Hatton will be shown on GMA-7 and Solar Sports.
I heard that Manny Pacquiao is already thinking of his retirement in boxing and have plans of running in Congress in 2010 Election. If everything went well with Pacquiao’s political plan, ots impossible for him to return to Kapamilya Network when it comes to his future boxing fights.

As far as I remember, Pambansang Kamao, Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao used to be a kapamilya before. If my memory serves me right, his previous 2-3 boxing match were aired in GMA 7, prior to that was all aired to ABC-CBN network. Pacquiao even had shows in Kapuso Network.
I watched SNN (Showbiz News Ngayon) last night and Kris Aquino said that she talked with Jinky Pacquiao over the phone and told her that Manny had long been wanting to return to ABS-CBN. He reportedly signed a letter of intent with ABS-CBN which will cover the Hatton on May 2, 2009 match and possibly three or more fights thereafter.
UPDATE: Solar Sports Entertainment has claimed it will seek legal remedies in case of breach of contract by Pacquiao. While Pacquiao is not affected by the possibility of him being sued after Solar Sports reportedy failed to “fulfill its obligation to pay stipulated fees for the subject rights.”

In celebration of International Women Month, I attended an invitation of a friend to a seminar tagged as “Lakas Laban Sa HIV at AIDS Advocacy” in Paranaque City yesterday. Actually, its about women health.
The seminar was given by Parañaque City Health Department and Social Hygiene Clinic headed by Dra. Olga Virtucio. The two hour seminar was very informative, representatives from Glaxo SmithKline, Saved The Children and Johnson & Johnson tell us more about gynecological cancer, prevention and vaccines. In cooperation of Rotary Club of Makati San Lorenzo, Rotary Club of Taipei Capital, Department of Health, Philippine Cancer Society and cancer Institute of the Philippines. Thank you so much!
Have you seen the latest commercial of the singer Joey Albert? She’s a two time cancer survivor. Thanks to science that gynecological cancer vaccine is already available. Glaxo SmithKline offered HepaB and cancer vaccine at a lower price. HepaB is only Php 400 per shot for 3 consecutive months. Cervical cancer vaccine is only Php 2000 per shot, two consecutive months and the third shot will be given after six months. I heard from a morning news that such vaccine will cost around Php 3,000 to Php 5,000 when you avail it to other private doctors. Ms. Lanie of GSK told us that we cannot avail the discounted price when we call directly to GSK. For those who are not Parañaquenos, you could inquire at your City Health Department.
Did you know that 8 out of 10 women will be infected of HPV or Human Papillomavirus in their lifetime that will lead to genital cancer? I don’t want to be one of those 8, better have the vaccine and live life to the fullest.
