Ninoy Aquino International Airport or NAIA Terminal 3 finally opened its door for commercial flights this morning. The lucky Cebu Pacific flight bound for Caticlan is the first flight to use the controversial NAIA 3 at 5:10 am this morning.
Why controversial? The third terminal of the airport, the larger Terminal 3, is the newest terminal in the NAIA complex. Constructed starting 1997, the terminal is 98% complete as of 2006. It is one of the most controversial projects the Philippine government has gotten involved in, and in some cases is likened to a white elephant. Legal battles and red tape, especially international arbitration cases in both the United States and Singapore as a result of mismanagement of the project by the Estrada government, as well as technical and safety concerns, have delayed the opening several times. It is slated to officially open on June 30, 2008. - taken from wikipedia
The journey to the new airport will take 30 minutes per passenger to reach boarding area. There are guides to avoid passengers to get lost. I heard, a couple won a round trip ticket to Caticlan on NAIA 3 first operating day. Wow! They experienced first the NAIA 3 and they won round trip tickets to Caticlan. They are lucky indeed on their Boracay vacation.
Looking forward to see and experience NAIA Terminal 3 soon.

Pacquiao threw 788 punches to Diaz's 463, also landing 10 per cent more of his blows. Pacquiao jabbed well, with remarkable discipline for an instinctual brawler, but Diaz was hurt most by the 180 power shots that connected.
At 2nd round, Diaz suffered a cut on the bridge of his nose after getting a right jab from Pacquiao. Pacquiao received an extra point.
At 4th round, Diaz had a cut near his upper left eye caused by a head butt. Pacquiao had an average of 64 thrown punches per round.
At 5th round, Diaz with a cut on his upper left eye wears a bloody mask. Every break, I heard Pacquiao's coach reminding him of "timing'.
At 6th round, legal blows and punches were given to each other. "He's just too fast!" are the words came out of Diaz mouth explaining to his coach.
At 7th round, Diaz took a more aggressive stance, despite the cuts on his face, lunging several times at his challenger. Pacquiao slowed down a bit, ended without neither fighter inflicting any major damage on the other.
At 8th round, Diaz is getting slower after receiving strong and fast punches from Pacman,
At 9th round, Diaz had taken enough, he didn't know what hit him. Pacquiao knocked out Diaz. Pacquiao tried helping Diaz to stand up before referee Vic Drakulich. Pacquiao wins!

Few hours from now, the much awaited boxing match between our very oen boxing superstar, Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao and David "Dangerous" Diaz tagged as "Lethal Combination". Of course, I'm hoping Pacquiao get the WBC (World Boxing Council) Lightweight belt, his fourth title. If he gets lucky, he will be the first Asian to win the four titles in different weight division.
The match will not be titled as "Lethal Combination" if David Diaz will give his title easily. David Diaz won Chicago Golden Gloves four times and the National Golden Gloves three times (1993, 1994 and 1996 National Golden Gloves light welterweight champion)with boxing record of 36 fights and 34 wins. Well, I'm sure Diaz know that Pacquiao is known for being a "Mexican Killer". For sure, I'll be posting the boxing result tomorrow. I will be watching the boxing event at Mandalay Beach Resort and Casino in live stream again.

As of this writing, typhoon Frank (international codename: Fengshen) was lowered to storm signal no. 2 in Metro Manila (where I live) same with provinces such as Bulacan, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Abra, Ifugao, Aurora, Rizal and Laguna. It was signal no. 3 this morning. There will be no classes for all levels tomorrow.
Power was out in my area at 5 am this morning until 2pm. Good thing that I always have emergency kits ready for this situations. Wake up call? Nah, maybe for other people but not for me. I have candles, batteries, flashlight, AM/FM radio, emergency lights among other things in my house. I learned this from my Tatay who was always been ready for possibilities.
Speaking of radio, since there was no electricity, I monitored the news update at DZMM Radio Patrol. I heard of MV Princess of the Staras owned by Sulpicio Lines that was found this morning at Sibuyan Island in Romblon province after reportedly lost and nowhere to be found yesterday. The said vessel with estimated 700 passengers and crew was bound for Cebu. I also heard President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo confirming to Coast Guards if they released warning to the coming storm yesterday. This is another maritime tragedy just like what happened at MV Dona Paz and MV Dona Marilyn in the past. Lets pray for more survivors.
I also heard of floods, evacuation areas, homeless filipinos, brownout, local politician reporting their current situations, Mount Pinatubo preparations. Whew! There were many things to be done for typhoons, my emergency kits is so simple to be kept at home but monitoring the situations outside always matter to me.

Rouge magazine had made their name in the magazine world, but a negative publicity. Their cover model (Joey Mead) is wearing a Philippine flag body paint. The editor, I forgot to take note of his name, said that he is aware that the flag should not be worn and he also said that the law never states that the flag should not be (body) painted. Palusot!

I went to Manila City Hall and Pag-Ibig Office in Lawton, Manila upon my mother's request. I noticed some Philippine flags on the way and also saw banners placed on public walls. Too bad that it was impossible for me to took snapshots of those banners for security reasons. Anyway, the words "Pilipinas Kong Mahal" was printed inside the flag, on the lower right side of the flag, an estimated font size of 35% of the size of the flag. I did have negative impression seeing those banners. Whose behind this? "Makabayan" (nationalistic)? Or OA (over acting)?
Tomorrow is May 28, National Flag Day in the Philippines. At my age, I still remember my Social Studies lesson in elementary and high school regarding respect to our flag. According to wikipedia, here are the prohibited acts:
It is prohibited to deface or ridicule the flag, to dip the flag as a salute, or to add additional marks of any nature on the flag. It may not be used as a drapery, festoon, tablecloth, as a covering for objects, or as part as a costume or uniform.
Several commercial uses of the flag are prohibited, including using the flag as a trademark or for commercial labels or designs. It is forbidden to use the image of the flag on merchandise, or in any advertisement. It also may not be used as a pennant in the hood, side, back and top of motor vehicles;
The flag may not be displayed horizontally face-up, or under any painting, picture or platform. It may not be displayed in "places of frivolity", defined in the Flag Code as marked by "boisterous merriment or recreation".
How come Lito Atienza forgot it by placing the words "Pilipinas Kong Mahal" in the flag banners. Makabayan or OA? Whatever explanation he have, it is still a bad example to young filipinos. Good thing that my 7 year old son didn't saw the banners. Year 2010 election is near, I won't forgot that. They should clear all those banners with "Pilipinas Kong Mahal" print immediately and the hard earned money of Filipinos gone to waste again.

Manny Pacquiao Aims For Lightweight Title
Posted by myglitch Labels: current events, news and info, peopleWatch out for the coming boxing match of boxing superstar Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao versus 31 year old Mexican-American David Diaz, the present WBC (World Boxing Council) lightweight champion on June 28 at Mandalay Bay Resort, Las Vegas, Nevada.
August last year, David Diaz won the boxing match against Eric Morales in defense of his title. This time, Manny Pacquiao is aiming for the WBC Lightweight title which will make him the "first Asian boxer to win four world titles in three different weight divisions", and he will also be the First Filipino World Lightweight titlist.
Manny Pacquiao's titles:
1st - WBC (World Boxing Council) Flyweight from Fahsan 3K Battery
2nd - IBF (International Boxing Federation) Super Bantamweight from Lehlohonolo Ledwaba
3rd - WBC (World Boxing Council) and The Ring World Super Featherweight title from Juan Manuel Marquez
4th - Pacquiao's target: WBC Lightweight title
Taking consideration the data I gather, I guess this would be the greatest boxing match or should I say "the finale" of Pacquiao's boxing career. Let's just hope for the best. Go, Manny!

Oh, no. I did forgot that tonight is the opening of 3rd World Pyro Olympics. We are looking forward to watch the Pyro Olympics from first day to last day and its sad that we missed the 1st day. At around 5pm this afternoon, heavy rain poured. I admit that I did forgot the event, the cold weather is another reason to be lazy to go there.
The frequent reschedule of 3rd World Pyro Olympics somehow made people got tired of the event... plus summer season is about to end already. I checked on the official website of World Pyro Olympics, it's now available again.
There is a big chance that the event will be a big flop for these reasons:
The reasons above were my based on point of view. I still hope that next Saturday, the event will be a success compared to previous World Pyro Olympics. See you there.including me. These sites got the information by inquiring to La Mancha Productions.
World Pyro Olympics tourism
The opening of the 3rd World Pyro Olympics is supposed to be tonight. My kids are asking me if we will be going to SM Mall of Asia last night, having experienced the last time we went there without 3rd World Pyro Olympics made us tired already of the event. I thought, I haven't noticed any advertisements and announcements unlike the previous World Pyro Olympics events. Just to make sure, I've called up La Mancha Productions this morning.
Its confirmed. The new and final schedule of 3rd World Pyro Olympics will start on May 3, a Saturday and the succeeding Saturdays of May. The official website of World Pyro Olympics is still down for maintenance, the management told me that their site will be available next week or the other week.
They're still finalizing the participants and schedule, if that's the case, there could be changes with previous given schedule and participants. Its guaranteed that it will be on May 3, I hope. Personally, its a good schedule considering people are getting ready for the start of school year, they could watch the event after they went shopping at SM MOA. Good luck to them on the later part of May since its also the start of rainy season in the Philippines.

- La Mancha Pyro Productions representing the Philippines - Pyromusical show exihibition
I'll be posting here the final schedule as soon I have it. For the meantime, you may read my previous World Pyro Olympics articles.

Just heard of the news that La Nina is nearly over to the Philippines when the temperature is 34°C. Usually La Nina occur every 3-5 years to tropical countries like Philippines. La Nina caused floods and landslides to Philippine provinces. If I remember it right, there was also La Nina when typhoon Reming triggered mudslides from Mayon Volcano and damaged many towns of Albay including Cagsawa Ruins Park in December 2006. I found out that La NiƱa conditions typically last approximately 9-12 months. Whatever, I got used to our extreme weather condition, if its not La Nina (cold weather), it could be El Nino (warm weather) and vice versa.
The weakening of La Nina will surely bring us hot summer even at night. This summer, its possible that the temperature will go up to 38°C. Mudslides triggered by heavy rains entombed a community of 1,800 in Guinsaugon on Southern Leyte province, about 675 km (420 miles) southeast of Manila, in February this year. Incessant rains since December also damaged some crop areas, forcing local feedmillers, poultry and livestock firms to import about 217,000 tonnes of corn since January. Philippines is experiencing rice shortage, La Nina had a big contribution to this problem.
According to PAGASA, rainy season will start on the second half of May. Although its too early to prepare for the coming rainy season, lets not forget that summer is the best season to fix and check our house roofs.

The much awaited boxing rematch of Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao vs Juan Manuel "Dinamita" Marquez, The Unfinished Business, their unfinished business is finally "finished". Ciara Sotto sang the Philippines' National Anthem, too bad that they've mispelled her name as "Sierra" Sotto.
That was a close fight with Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao won over Juan Manuel "Dinamita" Marquez by split decision. Pacquiao won by 3 points, 115 points over 112 points of Marquez. There are other rounds that Manuel Marquez have more points than Pacquiao. Manny Pacquiao versus Manuel Marquez 29 Age 34 5'6 1/2 Height 5'7 25" Arm Length 24" 129 lbs. Weight-In 130 lbs. 145 lbs. Weight-now 141 lbs. white Trunks black 115 points Points 112 points
Highlights of the boxing event:
Round 1: The boxing started with Pacquiao and Marquez both agressive where Pacquiao wants to steal the WBC Super Featherweight Title from Marquez. Marquez earned points on round 1.
Round 2: Pacquiao did received solid right punches from Marquez, he almost fell when hit by one of this punches. Marquez won 2nd round again.
Round 3: Pacquiao might be angry and become too aggresive and hit Marquez that made him knocked down. lol The crowd is cheering for Pacquiao. Points for Pacquiao now.
Round 4: Marquez wants this round to be his round but no to avail. Pacquiao won again the round.
Round 5: Marquez showed that he recovered from his knockdown to this round and earned points over Pacquiao.
Round 6: They were fighting away from each other. It seemed they were waiting or looking for the right timing to punch. I guess, this round goes to Marquez for his combination punches.
Round 7: Unintentional headbutt made the upper right corner of Marquez' right eye bleed.
Round 8: Pacquiao's right eyebrow bleed and continuosly bleeding til the end of the game. He had the hard time seeing Marquez but he didn't gave up. The host said, he was literally blind on his right eye. Indeed a filipino pride.
Round 9: Marquez targeted Pacquiao's right eye, and successfully made it. In the middle of the round, referee call for a small break because Marquez' right eye was bleeding again.
Round 10: It was shown that Pacquiao's eye was bleeding from under and over his right eye. People are shouting and cheering for this round. Adrenalin rush from the boxers and the crowd.
Round 11: A classic match of a puncher and a boxer. Marquez combination wasn't as snappy as the first rounds.
Round 12: It was the last round, naturally they are both agreesive. Pacquiao did have the hard time coping with marquez boxing strategy, but he did his best.

After four years, the much awaited rematch of the Philipine' pride Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao vs Juan Manuel Marquez is few days from now. Pacquiao commonly known to many as Pacman, earned the nickname "The Mexican Killer" after he knocked out Erik Morales twice and beating Marco Antonio Barrera. Of course, Marquez won't allow that he will be the third to be beaten up by Manny Pacquiao to finish their unfinished business.
The Pacquiao VS Marquez II: Unfinished Business will be on March 15, Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, USA, 9p.m. EST/6p.m. PST (March 16 in the Philippines) is a rematch of their May 8, 2004 legendary battle which ended in a draw. The boxing event is produced and distributed live on HBO Pay-Per-View. Although its a week from now, Pinoy are already searching for a better venue to watch Pacquiao-Marquez live.
Actually, I'm still thinking where will I watch the upcoming boxing event, Residents of General Santos, Pacquiao's hometown are lucky, they can watch it live for free while other filipinos will have to buy skyrocketing ticket prices (Php 300-800) to their chosen venue.
On the other hand, Pacmania will shake the Philippines again! No traffic... no rally... no prayer rally... forget about the present political crisis for the meantime. While Manny Pacquiao is doing his best for our country in the field of boxing, filipino will be united again. I don't think FG Mike Arroyo will be there again in Las Vegas.
Note: Pacquiao vs Marquez 2 result and other information will be posted soon on this blog.

Let There Be Water... I'm Thirsty!
Posted by myglitch Labels: current events, health issues, news and infoThe typhoid outbreak in six barangays of Calamba, Laguna had worsened, victims have increased from 241 to 500 persons. I've watched the news last night, JP Rizal Memorial Hospital (provincial hospital) had set up tents at the hospital grounds to accomodate the increasing number of patients. Some patients are confined at the nearby town hospitals.
Update: The local government of Calamba, Laguna declared state of calamity as of March 6, 2008 because of the typhoid fever outbreak.
What bothers me now is the report that the water in Calamba, Laguna had passed the water bacteriology test. The ancestral home of my Aunt is there, if I remember it right, their water there is nawasa. The town folks of Calamba and DOH (Department of Health) cannot think of possible reason of the typhoid outbreak but the water in their area. If its not the water, where did the outbreak came from? Laguna is a nearby province which we frequently visits during summer season. Although, we used to buy mineral water when we are out of town, this is alarming.Typhoid fever is an illness caused by the bacterium Salmonella enterica serovar Typhi. Common worldwide, it is transmitted by the fecal-oral route — the ingestion of food or water contaminated with feces from an infected person. The bacteria then multiply in the blood stream of the infected person and are absorbed into the digestive tract and eliminated with the waste. The organism is a Gram-negative short bacillus that is motile due to its peritrichous flagella. - taken from wikipedia
Did you know that the municipality of Paranaque City is strictly implementing the monthly water bacteriology test to restaurants and similar estblishments? They've started implementing it two years ago but this year they are really strict about the issue. The water bacteriology test costs php 300 - 350. The ice should be test too, that's an additional php 600-700 to your monthly expenses. I don't know if the same requirement applies to other municipalities and provinces in the Philippines. I support the requirement, its for a good cause. BUT, the local government should start demanding for a better water service first to Maynilad.
I'm drinking 2-3 liters of water daily. A liter of premium gasoline is almost php 50, exchange rate today is $1 = php 40.71 and 1 liter mineral water is Php 20. Think about it...

The month of March in the Philippines is considered the start of summer season, we observe March as Fire Prevention Month. I woke up this morning hearing the firetruck sirens again, this time its not in a hurry. I also heard my neighbor who happens to be a fire volunteer... I thought, there's a fire again within the area. Its a parade of fire fighters on their fire truck and a voice coming from a megaphone announcing that its March again and its Fire Prevention Month.
For me, its the signal for renewing my fire issurance policy. Our house is insured but I do also have a separate fire insurance policy for the content of our house. It didn't cost that much to secure your house. My father started getting the policy when he was still with us.
Several years ago, a fire started three houses away from our house. It happened at night where some people are already sleeping. We just heard people shouting that there was fire, people are rushing for their things to be save from fire. Because we are near to the burning house, the instinct was to saved our belongings first. We carry them all to my grandma's house two streets away from ours. With the help of my other relatives and friends, within 15-30 minutes, our house was "cleaned". To sum it up, the fire was because of faulty electrical wirings, two houses were burned and it took us one day to returned everything in their place in our house.
My father learned from this experience and he started getting a fire insurance policy. He said that when fire elopes again near our house, all we have to carry out are our clothes and other personal belongings. Lock the door and leave other things inside, they're insured. Why have the door locked? To save them from thieves!"Mas mabuti pa ang manakawan ng sampung beses kesa sa masunugan." - Tatay

Misa Para Sa Katotohanan

"The truth is our Perpetual Help."
On the occasion of the 22nd Anniversary of Edsa People Power Revolution, I've attended "Misa Para Sa Katotohanan" held in Our Lady of Perpetual Help church in Baclaran. I was there early before the mass started, many people were there already. Some of them looks like that they came from different places or they belong to the rallyists. Streamers were everywhere indicating their anguish with the present government. Overall, there were many private individuals including me.
Its totally different from the usual mass I've attended here, I can't compare it to novena mass every Wednesday either. Security is impressive, some gates were closed and people are not allowed to come near the altar where Jun Lozada and President Cory Aquino were sitted. The choir sang different church songs intended for the occasion. People clapped their hands when Fr. Joseph mentioned the presence of Jun Lozada and President Corazon Aquino. Fr. Joseph also stressed what happened during the Edsa Revolution, that it shouldn't be forgotten especially now. We shouldn't kept our silence to the government's anomalies and corruption. The message was very well said. Where are we now?
