Another Proud Pinoy teacher in the person of Efren Peñaflorida of Cavite City was first nominated for CNN Heroes 2009 in Championing Children category. A native of Cavite City, the 28 year old nominee grew up near the city’s dumpsite where he spent most of his younger years playing and swimming in the garbage beach. Remember Charice Pempengco, the proud pinay singer from the Philippines who guested in Oprah Winfrey Show last May 13, 2008. She sang “I Have Nothing” then.
Charice will have her 2nd guest appearance on Oprah Show, Tuesday edition at 4:00 pm (Wednesday in the Philippines). According to the teaser, Charice was introduced as “The girl with the voice is back! From a small town in the other side of the planet, raised by a single mother… singing to feed her family.
